We have a rough itinerary for this proposed tour taking in

all nine UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Here is the proposed itinerary for the 2026 World Heritage tour of Morocco concept.

DAY 1: Tangier airport

Arrive in Tangier and drive about 1.5 hrs to your overnight accommodation in Tetouan.

DAY 2: Tetouan > explore the medina > Chefchaouen

After a wander through the fascinating old city you’ll drive to your accommodation in the blue city of Chefchaouen about 3.5 hours away.

#1 UNESCO World Heritage site – Medina of Tetouan (formerly known as Titawin)

DAY 3: Chefchaouen > Fez

After spending time exploring the blue city, it’s about a 4-hour drive to your accommodation in Fez. You’ll be in Fez for two nights so there’s plenty of time to discover the sites, especially the medina, and absorb the Moroccan culture and experience.

DAY 4: Fez

#2 UNESCO World Heritage site – Medina in Fez

DAY 5: Fez > Volubilis >Meknes > Rabat

Today includes a 3.5-hour drive to Rabat, extended by stops along the way at Volubilis and Meknes, so it will be a busy day’s travel. You will overnight in Rabat.

#3 UNESCO World Heritage site – Archaeological site of Volubilis

#4 UNESCO World Heritage site – Historic city of Meknes

#5 UNESCO World Heritage site – Rabat the modern capital and historic city: a shared heritage. This is King Mohammed V’s Mausoleum

DAY 6: Rabat > Casablanca > El Jadida

This morning’s drive to Casablanca and then to the heritage site El Jadida takes about 2.5 hours. However with stops to explore you can expect to reach your accommodation in El Jadida later in the afternoon.

#6 UNESCO World Heritage site – Portuguese city of Mazagan (El Jadida). The cistern is currently closed for restoration. The interesting medina remains to be explored.

DAY 7: El Jadida > Essaouira

It’s about a 3.5-hours drive to Essaouira, without counting any stops along the way.

As there’s been quite a bit of driving each day since Rabat, an extra night in Essaouira is recommended.

DAY 8: Essaouira

#7 UNESCO World Heritage site – Medina in Essaouira (formerly Mogador)

DAY 9: Essaouira > Marrakech

Today’s drive to Marrakech takes about 3 hours where you’ll stay for two nights.

DAY 10: Marrakech

#8 UNESCO World Heritage site – Medina in Marrakech, where you will find this building, the Medersa Ben Youssef.

DAY 11: Marrakech > Ait Ben Haddou

The drive to Ait Ben Haddou takes about 3.5 hours, not counting stops along the way. You’ll explore the heritage site and overnight there, before taking an early morning flight the next day.

#9 UNESCO World Heritage site – Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou

DAY 12: Ait Ben Haddou > Ouarzazate airport

It is a 30-minute drive to Ouarzazate airport, where you’ll take a Royal Air Maroc flight to Casablanca.

Take this chance to explore the cultural sites of Morocco.
