The Kindness Vegan Tour Itinerary in Outline
Part 2 of 2.

The itinerary below leaves you loads of free time. If you want us to incorporate extra activities, that’s easily done. For example, in our blog posts on a tour following the footsteps of artists we mention some other interesting things to do in Marrakech, Fez and in the desert. These are here and here.
For mobile use landscape view.
Night of Tour | Locale | Accommodation & restaurant/cafe | Yoga location if you want it | Social or animal justice activity |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 and 2 | Marrakech | ZamZam Riad (if that is unavailable we have alternatives). Also Café Henna or vegan food tour. | At Riad. | Donkey sanctuary in the Mountains nearby. |
3 | Ouarzazate, having stopped at Ait Ben Haddou on the way. | Eco accommodation where you pick your own ingredients for dinner. | The lodge has the space in its lovely garden. | Visit a genuine women’s cooperative for carpets. It is one of those rare coops located directly on the tourist route but we need to forewarn them of your visit. They advise that their rugs are classified superior quality by the Ministry of Crafts. |
4-5 | Merzouga | Artist’s retreat in the desert run by an Australian woman. Veganism is particularly poorly understood in the desert. However Chez Les Artistes at Khamlia is a good cafe option. | The dunes! | For an afternoon, visit the nomads who live in and around the dunes for a tea. We don’t recommend a meal with them due to vegan sensibilities. |
6 | Midelt | Villa Pomme d'Or. | At the accommodation. Poolside perhaps. | An overnight stay, so we don’t recommend trying to fit in a social justice activity here, but if you are super-keen, perhaps Atelier Kasbah Myriam. (nuns and monks started a rugs/weaving and embroidery workshop here with local women – visitors welcome.) |
7-8 | Fez | Karawan Riad or an alternative. Restaurant Nur, Michelin restaurant. | At the Riad. | Afternoon tour of artisans who don’t use animal products in the production of their beautiful artisanal products, led by an English ex-pat. Alternatively the Medina Children’s Library. |
9 | Ouzoud waterfalls | Riad Cascades d'Ouzoud. | Poolside! Set in a beautiful garden. | Support the community who work by the side of the river, by spending some time with them to eat and check out the items they have for sale |
10 | Marrakech | The same riad as last time. | See earlier. | Not applicable. |
The café interior managed by Lahcen and Johanna. We love the otherworldly animal sculptures by Lahcen. which are outside.
Further details of the itinerary of the Kindness tour of Morocco for Vegans, are available to our clients on our Client Resources page. Due to the dietary requirements limiting accommodation options, there is a loading of 25% on Tour 5 fees for this vegan tour. Please don’t think this is discrimination. It is simply so much more time consuming to make the arrangements for vegans to ensure that you are properly looked after, than is required for our standard tours. We also need to cover cost differentials arising in Morocco too.
