SEA
DAY 1 – October 15, 2025 : Agadir > Sidi Kaouki (Wednesday)
MEALS: Dinner (D)
Group pick-up at Agadir airport (be sure to arrive by 2pm at the latest) where you’ll be met by Cara and our driver who’ll take you to Sidi Kaouki for our first night, at quality accommodation on, overlooking or very near the beach. It’s a good idea to have an overnight stopover in Casablanca before we meet in Agadir, to avoid jetlag. On the 4.5 hour drive to Sidi Kaouki you’ll see the coast, the striking sunset and stop along the way for dinner, so the more daylight hours we have for this scenic trip, the better.
DAY 2 – October 16, 2025: Sidi Kaouki (Thursday)
MEALS: Breakfast (B), D
A relaxing day where you can sleep in, walk along the beach, venture into the village on foot, chill out. We may also need to sort out some tour administrative details together
DAY 3 – October 17, 2025: Sidi Kaouki > Essaouira > Marrakech (Friday)
MEALS: B
After breakfast, we’ll drive half-an-hour to Essaouira, an arty and beachy former Portuguese port. We’ll do a version of our self-guided sensory day tour as described here. We’ll have an early dinner in Essaouira before driving 2.5 hours to Marrakech.
We’ll stay for two nights at Riad Spice, or equivalent.
DAY 4 – October 18, 2025 : Marrakech (Saturday)
MEALS: B & D (evening food tour)
Enjoy breakfast before our morning tour of the medina. There are so many options of things to see and experience, which we will discuss with our certified guide, before setting out. Lunch together in a nice café. Afternoon free. In the evening we’ll go on a food tour (covered by the tour fee), to see Marrakech at night.
MOUNTAINS & STREAMS
DAY 5 – October 19, 2025: Marrakech >Ourika (Sunday)
MEALS: B, Lunch (L) & D
Following breakfast, we’ll drive to Anima Garden at Ourika in the mountains. Entry fee is about 140 dirhams per person and is extra to the tour. It is just 10 or so minutes from the saffron farm where we’ll have a special lunch (entry fee and lunch covered by the tour fee.). We’ll stay in the mountains overnight at Dar Zohra which is close to our activities that day (or equivalent) and have dinner there. If it is Dar Zohra, the food is good and the interior design profession of the owner is in evidence.
DESERTIQUE
DAY 6 – October 20, 2025: Ourika > Ait Ben Haddou > Agdz (Monday)
MEALS: B & D
Breakfast first, and then you drive to Agdz via the UNESCO classified world heritage site Ait Ben Haddou. The hillside village was made famous by such films as “Lawrence of Arabia” and “Gladiator” – you might also recognise it as the city of Yunkai in “Game of Thrones”. At the entrance to Ait Ben Haddou they ask for a small payment.
Tonight you’ll stay at Kasbah Kissane, (or equivalent). Dinner tonight will be at the kasbah, which has some french influence due to Veronique, one of the owners.
FIELDS, GORGES, DESERT & MARKETS
DAY 7 – October 21, 2025 : Agdz > Jbel Saghro > Boumalne Dades (Tuesday).
MEALS: B & D
After breakfast today, you’ll travel from Agdz to Boumalne Dades via a more unusual route for visitors – over the Jbel Saghro range. You can read more about crossing the Jbel Saghro range in Cara’s recent blog post about the Marabouts of Morocco. Tonight you will stay at a small lodge well known for its good food and have dinner there.
DAY 8 – October 22, 2025: Boumalne Dades > Erfoud (Wednesday)
MEALS: B & D
After breakfast, you’ll head for Erfoud. It is the date season and Erfoud is capital of dates in Morocco. You’ll be staying at La Rose du Desert (or equivalent) where you’ll also have dinner.
DAY 9 – October 23, 2025: Erfoud > Rissani > Dunes (Thursday)
MEALS: B & D
This is a market day in Rissani, so after breakfast you will visit the markets 20km away from Erfoud. Rissani was once an important meeting point for caravans from the south bearing slaves and salt, and for caravans from the north with leather goods, jewellery and items from faraway lands that came via the seaports. The markets are fascinating. Keep an eye out for traditional Berber products. Later, walk through dilapidated ksars (mini palaces) and the mosaic-embellished mausoleum (if they are open to the public that day) of the founder of the current Alouite dynasty.
Towards the end of the day, you’ll go to a luxury camp in the dunes of Erg Chebbi – either by 4WD or on a camel ride. You’ll have dinner there – it will be a simple meal, as is general with cuisine in the south. Sunrise is always spectacular, and you might like to see if the nightlife of the dunes has left tracks in the sand at that time. You might like to have a go at baking Berber bread at breakfast time – in the traditional way, of course. Just let me know once we’re on tour (I will ask).
DAY 10 – October 24, 2025: the Dunes > Khamlia > Rissani > Erfoud (Friday)
MEALS: B & D
After breakfast, we’ll return to Rissani via Khamlia, a village of the descendants of the slaves brought by the Moroccan slave trade from further south in Africa. Time permitting, we may visit the café, Chez les Artistes, which is owned by a local and his Belgian wife. The walls display interesting art, and outside is a collection of surrealistic metal sculptures. Closer still to Rissani, we will walk through an abandoned village that was occupied, perhaps 40 years ago, by Arabs descended from those who came with the caravans, from Yemen, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Egypt
Then, we continue on to Erfoud where we’ll stay again at La Rose du Desert. You may like to go off-road to see giant art installations, or we could just stay at La Rose, swim in the pool, walk to the fossil museum close by and catch up on personal administration. If you want an afternoon cooking class here (not covered by the tour fee) let us know early in the tour so it can be arranged.
Tonight will be your “farewell to the desert” dinner here – a barbecue in the palm garden (if the weather is suitable).
DAY 11 – October 25, 2025: Fly from Errachidia > Casablanca > Fez (Saturday)
MEALS: D
You need a very early start today, so you can drive one hour to Errachidia to catch your early morning flight to Casablanca. At Casablanca we will be met by our driver, will grab some breakfast at a cafe and then we’ll take the train to Fez, while our driver takes our luggage by car, to Fez. Just sit back and enjoy the scenery while having an experience of good train travel in Morocco.
We’ll be staying at a traditional riad in Fez, where we will have dinner on the first evening in this next city.
DAY 12 – October 26, 2025: Fez (Sunday)
MEALS: B & D
After breakfast, step back in time to 800AD when you take a morning tour of the medieval Fez medina with our certified guide. Before setting out, we’ll decide what interests us most – the artisans, the food, the ancient architecture, the gardens.
Tonight, we’ll dine out together on the theme of the sea, mountains and desert.
DAY 13 – October 27, 2025: Fez > Meknes > Volubilis > Chefchaouen (Monday)
MEALS: B & L
After breakfast, we’ll drive to Chefchaouen, the blue city, via one of the four imperial cities of Morocco, Meknes. We’ll visit Volubilis, an ancient Roman settlement, and stop for lunch at a nearby farm replete with numerous peacocks and a chaming olive tree grove.
We’ll stay for two nights in Chefchaouen at Dar Laman Two, a quicky arty guesthouse. Their online presence is a bit confusing; take it from us that it is nice.
DAY 14 – October 28, 2025: Chefchaouen(Tuesday)
MEALS: B & D
After breakfast our guide will take you on a morning tour of the blue city. You may notice a green door occasionally, amongst the blue – this is a sign the occupant (past or present) was or is a descendant of the prophet Mohammed. If passed away, they may nevertheless be buried at home while their family continues to reside there. You may also see pot-smokers and instagram “influencers” posing for photos, but underlying it all there is a feeling of spirituality (if you can switch into it).
The afternoon is free, and dinner will be at the dar or a nearby restaurant.
DAY 15 – October 29, 2025: Chefchaouen >Tangier (Wednesday)
MEALS: B & D
After a leisurely start, we will make the 3.5 hour drive to Tangier on the north coast.
DAY 16 – October 30, 2025: Tangier (Thursday)
MEALS: B
Following breakfast, we’ll do an abbreviated morning tour for those of us with sufficient time before departure. If we have time visit the Kasbah museum and the former gaol (now art gallery) adjacent to that, we will be doing well.
You’ll then be dropped at the ferry port, train station or airport – unless there is a time clash – in which case taxis may be necessary that will be extra to the tour fee.
PLEASE NOTE that quoted prices do not include lunches (except for the saffron farm lunch) and dinners where not specifically included, drinks (including bottled water), airfares to, from and within Morocco, some tips and any personal expenses, or anything else not specifically included in the itinerary. We can explain more about this at the time of your enquiry, upon request.
